The Garden Route Natural Science Research Facility was founded in March 2014 and started out at Forest Hall Estate, a beautiful Private Nature Reserve in The Crags on the Garden Route before relocating to Buffalo Creek in Kurland.

The GRNSRF was developed from the Baartman/Biko Environmental Initiative which was started in 2005.
